The Plain Truth about NEW YEAR'S!

How did the celebration of New Year's Eve begin? Why is the beginning of a year placed in the middle of a dead winter? And where did the many customs surrounding it originate?

MOST people carelessly assume that celebrating New Year's Eve is a Christian custom.

But did the practice of "waiting the old year out" really come from the Bible?

Is January 1 the true beginning of a new year? Who has the AUTHORITY to determine when a new year begins?

An Ancient Pagan Custom

New Year's is one of the oldest and most universal of all pagan TRADITIONS! The custom of celebrating it has remained essentially unchanged for 4,000 years!

"There is scarcely a people, ancient or modern, savage or civilized," writes Theodor H. Gaster, in his definitive book "New Year", "which has not observed it ... in one form or another. Yet no other festival has been celebrated on so many different dates or in so many seemingly different ways."

In ancient Babylon, New Year's festivals were closely bound to the pagan feast called "Christmas" today. The little-known connection of New Year's with Christmas is made clear in our free booklet, "The PLAIN TRUTH About CHRISTMAS!" If you haven't read it before, write for it immediately.

When and how did New Year's celebrations originate? Who began the custom?

Notice the proof of history.

"Mesopotamia," writes Earl W. Count, "is the very ancient Mother of Civilization. Christmas began there, OVER FOUR THOUSAND YEARS AGO, as the festival which renewed the world for another year. The 'twelve days' of Christmas; the bright fires and probably the Yule log; the giving of presents; the carnivals with their floats, their merrymakings and clownings, the mummers who sing and play from house to house; the feastings; the church processions with their lights and song -- all these and more began there centuries before Christ was born. And they celebrated THE ARRIVAL OF A NEW YEAR!" ("4000 Years of Christmas", pp. 20-21.)

That is how it began. The celebration of New Year's began in ancient Babylonia in Mesopotamia. It was a pagan custom of ancient sun-worship 2000 years before the birth of Jesus.

The celebration of New Year's is never once commanded in the Bible. Jesus and the apostles never observed it. Moses forbade it!

Don't say "it doesn't matter." It does matter to God whether we adopt the customs of the heathen. Your Bible says, "Learn not the way of the heathen" (Jeremiah 10:2).

Sheikh Palazzi Expresses Solidarity with Jews and Christian-Zionists

(IsraelNN.com) Noam Arnon, a spokesperson for the Jewish community of Hevron, told Arutz Sheva about a very unusual guest who came to show his support on Monday.

Making the trip from Italy to Hevron for the second time in recent years, the head of the Italian Muslim Assembly, Sheikh Abdul Hadi Palazzi, met with local Jewish leaders in a show of solidarity. The sheikh, an Italian national who received his Islamic education from leading mainstream Saudi and Egyptian Sunni institutions, believes that his religion obligates its followers to support Jewish sovereignty in the Land of Israel. In support of his position, Sheikh Palazzi quotes Koranic passages and traditions that affirm God's assignment of this land for the Jews.

As Palazzi has written of himself, he is "a Zionist Muslim clergyman and a friend of the Jewish people."

"We are talking about a unique personality," Arnon told Arutz Sheva. "A man who connects warmly with everyone he meets. A very brave individual."

During Sheikh Palazzi's visit to Hevron, community leaders discussed with him ways in which Islamist fundamentalism might be curbed. "He emphasized Saudi Arabia as responsible for extremism," Arnon said. "It funds mosques in Europe and the United States and then determines who will be allowed to speak in them. In this way, Islam becomes more and more extreme, which is a dangerous trend."

In his activities in Italy, Arnon explained, Palazzi teaches what he calls "the real Islam", which he believes includes tolerance, Jewish-Muslim fellowship and Zionism. "He even organized a protest outside the Iranian embassy in Rome when Ahmadinejad talked about destroying Israel," Arnon added.

Sheikh Palazzi, who is also the Muslim co-founder of the Islam-Israel Fellowship of the Root & Branch Association, told his Hevron hosts that Italian Jews are now shifting their political positions further to the Right. In the past, according to Palazzi, Jews in Italy were primarily supporters of the Left, but a slow change in underway. Arnon said that Sheikh Palazzi believes his efforts, as a non-Jew supporting Israel, have contributed to that shift.

Jamaica to honor "Armstrongite"

Government honors Church of God International regional pastor
KINGSTON, Jamaica--The government of Jamaica announced Aug. 6, 2009, it will formally honor Ian Boyne, the 52-year-old pastor of the Church of God International in Jamaica, for his achievements as a journalist.

Mr. Boyne will receive the Commander of the Order of Distinction award, effectively the third-highest distinction in the land, for his work as a commentator, writer and reporter.

Strictly speaking, it is the fifth-highest government-sponsored award. However, the No. 1 accolade is for a "national hero," held only by historical figures who fought against slavery (which ended in 1838) and worked for Jamaican independence (accomplished in 1961).

The No. 2 honor goes only to prime ministers and the governor-general.

"I think the national honor is quite a tribute to the COG movement," Mr. Boyne told The Journal. "We have been told by our critics that our minds are so much on the world tomorrow that we are of no earthly good. This award to a longtime, quote, Armstrongite, unquote, proves otherwise."

The Jamaican pastor is a celebrity in his country.

He appears weekly on national television with his show, Profile, and writes a weekly newspaper column.

The government announced Mr. Boyne's award on Jamaica's Independence Day, Aug. 6. Jamaica achieved its independence from Britain in 1962, although it remains a realm of the Commonwealth of Nations, with Queen Elizabeth II as monarch.

Ditches not Bridges?

Doni Miller is a black lady who has a local program on 13abc.com called Bridges. I wrote her on Facebook concerning several recent shows:

It's easy to criticize when YOUR life isn't in danger!

It's easy for those who were not in danger's way, who were not on the scene, to preach about what should have been done with the crazy woman threatening lives, brandishing a weapon that could have easily slit a jugular or gouged out an eye. If an officer had been killed or injured, would those same folks have held a vigil? Of course not.

If the cops or the caregiver simply shut the door on the deranged woman with scissors in her hands and she hurt or killed herself, then what? And if the mental person who threatened to kill the police officer wasn't black, would smug black ministers and the president of the racist NAACP have even noticed or cared? Instead, typically, they jumped on another occasion to get their mugs on camera and demand meetings so they can feel self-important. Enough is enough! The same principles I've addressed before (Black Mark on Toledo) apply to this situation and nothing has changed in the black community when it comes to blaming everybody but themselves.

And why call your program "Bridges" when the few I've seen all narrowly focus on always angry blacks and their constant complaints? You describe it: "Community affairs show, mostly highlighting issues related to folks of color-but we really try to address issues of general interest to the community." Are you racist? Don't you realize we're all people of color, that white is a color and that technically black is the absence of color? Why not be more honest and call it Ditches? The black community appears stuck in a ditch they've dug themselves into. Enough is enough.

And while watching your program, a commercial ran with Magic Johnson and some black woman saying, "Stop Black AIDS," mentioning how the HIV/AIDS rate is higher among blacks. Imagine if there were commercials saying "Stop White AIDS." The typical horde of black ministers and Willie Ann Moores of this world would jump all over it saying "how racist" and "AIDS doesn't have a color" and "why focus on white people?" Why not just "Stop AIDS?"  Typical double standards too many have grown accustomed to and ignore and realists like me who point them out often get attacked. Enough is enough.

Black Mark on Toledo

“The Nazis are coming! The Nazis are coming!” are what Toledo, Ohio's media were hyping all week about the National Socialist Movement's planned march in Toledo to protest black gang violence against whites in Toledo's North End.

Instead of wisely turning their backs on such a controversial demonstration, refusing to throw fuel on the fire and attract undue attention, Toledo blacks gave Bill White's best sermon. He couldn't have done a better job as a spokesman for the NSM. Such useful idiots proved the points he would have wanted to make and it made international news.

During the drama being played out on the stage of the streets, Toledo's miserable black Mayor Jack Ford was in denial of what he was watching. He said it wasn't a riot, “It's a group of folks who are angry,” according to The Blade reporter Roberta De Boer. When was a riot ever quiet? Doesn't he know riots are angry mobs gone mad? When his fellow blacks angrily reminded him, “Ford, you're black! You're supposed to be one of us!” - it appeared to confirm disturbing reports of Toledo police concerns that the black community's criminal element share the belief that they can get away with murder since Toledo has a black mayor.

Different enraged folk asked “Why did you allow them to be here?” It really makes you wonder if they've ever heard of freedom of speech. They can't all have dropped out of school. I certainly hope those who are still in school are made to shut up, sit down and learn all about it in the coming days and weeks.

All we've been hearing from the mayor so far, and various “leaders,” are excuses, excuses, excuses! The police admit they could've arrested far more than they did, but they didn't. What about cracking down on crime? Is that just another mindless mantra to chant around election time? The soft message the Toledo police sent was the wrong signal and invites further aggression in the future, here and elsewhere plagued with the same inner-city problems of roaming black packs, gangs of goons, drugs, prostitution, racial tensions ready to explode with the slightest provocation real or imagined. Many were outraged that they were “disrespected” by such a Nazi march through their neighborhood (that never went forward anyway). They disrespected themselves with their shameful reaction, showing lack of self-control, logic and reason.

Lee Conklin and Company, a local television Sunday show, this morning had several stereotypical liberal Jews and blacks on it (couldn't he have thought about it beforehand and chose others?) already talking about rewarding such terrorism by throwing money at it, building community (collective) centers for the children (”children” who have nothing better to do than riot) and obviously failing to take notice that the vast majority of those arrested were BLACK ADULTS!

A black woman preacher (doesn't know her Bible too well since woman aren't supposed to be preachers) who could barely speak English, thought things would calm down since the religious leaders undoubtedly would be addressing this incident from their pulpits (doesn't she know that most of those gang members will not be going to Church this Sunday or any Sunday or even on the correct Sabbath day?).

There was lots of talk about “let the healing begin” and other nonsense, refusing to face the harsh reality that THE BLACK BOIL NEEDS TO BE LANCED! Only then can the healing begin! The group hugs mentality and touchy-feely stupidity are worthless in addressing the issues that must be faced.

When will those self-righteous ministers standing tall and looking serious for the cameras (when they should be shrinking in shame), those smug “rainbow” coalition of kooks, get serious and confront the lack of law and order in the black community? When will they CALL FOR AND DEMAND OF THEMSELVES AN END TO IDLENESS AND SLEAZE that leads to disproportionate illegitimate children, immorality, STD's, drug dealing, glorification of crime, high school drop-outs and other such lack of proper content of character that Martin Luther King wouldn't be proud of? Why abdicate this responsibility to the “Klan with a tan,” the racist Nation of Islam?

If the black community wants some respect (sing it Aretha!), let them start with a proper self-respect and they'll get it. They certainly won't get it by continuing to let real racists excuse their inexcuable behavior, lower the standards for them, keep them down and out to get their votes or to pay for their gilded pulpit.

The following is brief correspondence I had with some Baptists who rightly reject "the mass of Christ" as baptized paganism but somehow fail to see SUNday is spiritual adultery pimped by the same Roman Catholic Cult that deceives the world with Christmas!

If Jesus were your Lord, you would love and obey Him and follow His example. He kept the Sabbath, his disciples kept the Sabbath, and the whole world will keep the Sabbath when the King of the Jews returns and reigns. Furthermore, the Sabbath didn't begin or end with Moses.

Sad you commit spiritual adultery by bowing to ROME every SUNday, whether you chose to remain in drunken denial of this fact or not. True Christians know God has not changed His mind and Yahshua is the same yesterday, today and forever. Jesus prophesied about false followers speaking against the holy commandments of God (that they may keep their own idolatrous traditions), and Daniel warned about those who would "think to change times and laws."
